Why we love Blaine…

Blaine was an amazing young man. His main desire in life was to serve God, to do whatever God wanted him to do. Before the surgery, he was working as an intern with the youth ministry at his church. One of his accomplishments was forming an Outreach Team and putting an Outreach Table together to welcome new students. He cared deeply about reaching out to others. There was nothing he would rather do than to help people in any way possible. For 3 years he helped run Reach the Least twice a year, a ministry that reaches out to the homeless. It was small in the beginning with not many volunteers, but partly because of his hard work the volunteers each time increased in numbers. He volunteered in his young adult group in the activities and outreach committee, played guitar in the young adult band as well as the band at his mom’s church. He was an incredibly loyal and generous person and would go out of his way to help his friends and family whenever possible. For example, for several months when his girlfriend had lyme disease and couldn’t drive, he would drive 40 minutes to her house, pick her up, take her to church/small group/young adult group 20 minutes away, drive her back to her house, then drive back to his house. He did this 3-4 times a week. He also routinely drove 35 min. to his mom’s house to mow her lawn, trim branches, and cut her hair (yes, he can even cut hair well!). He loved to encourage people and just be a listening ear. He loved to mentor youth and children and help instill the values in them that he holds dear. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was determined to do a task well, he was an incredibly hard worker. He was compassionate and loving, gentle and kind, and truly shined.

In other words, he was a person who made the world a much better place to live in. It was an incredible blessing to know him and love him.
